LEARNING WHAT MAKES BUSINESS TICK

Pupils have been learning about what makes business tick by taking part in a range of enrichment activities organised by the Business and Economics Department.

These include:

  • A presentation by Google to 49 Year 12 & 13 students on digital marketing, and a presentation on human resources at Merlin Entertainment.
  • Seventy five BTEC students and GCSE Business students visiting the BMW Mini factory in Oxfordshire, where they toured the plant and learned about operations management, followed by a trip to Willowbrook Organic farm to learn about ethical business and sustainability.  
  • A trip to Freshfields law firm and Chaucer Insurance for BTEC students to find out about careers in the city, meet professionals and practice interview skills. 
  • Over 100 Business, Economics, Psychology and Sociology students enjoying a highly engaging behavioural economics presentation from Geoff Riley (founder of Tutor2u and a teacher at Eton). His talk included several examples of how businesses and governments influence consumer behaviour.  

Enrichment activities are designed to broaden pupils' options and to prepare them for the future.
