Exam Results 2017

Key stage 4 (end of secondary school) results

These are provisional results for performance of pupils at Morpeth school Key Stage 4, at the end of the academic year 2016/17 that finished in July 2017.

These provisional results were published in October 2017.

In January 2018 the Department for Education will publish revised figures, which will include updates, for example due to late results, amendments following re-mark requests and pupil changes made via the schools checking exercise.

The revised figures will include more detailed breakdowns than the provisional data.

In July 2015 the Government announced that once a newly reformed GCSE (9-1) has been introduced, then any legacy GCSEs (A*-G) taken by pupils before they reached the end of year 11 will not count in the 2018 performance measures.  To support a broad curriculum for pupils at Morpeth they are able to sit GCSEs in Years 9 and 10 as well as Year 11. Consequently in 2018 many of the exams sat by our pupils will not count in the school’s performance measures published by the Department for Education. This will not impact on the individual pupils in any way in terms of their choices post-16, however it is likely to have a significant impact on some of the published performance measures in the Autumn of 2018. For the benefit of families in our community we will publish our own data at that time that better reflects the achievement of the students.

Key Stage 5 (16 to 18 phase of education) results

These figures tell you about performance of students at Morpeth School at the 16 to 18 phase of education.

These figures were published in January and March 2017, and data on attainment, English and maths, retention, and completion and attainment were revised in April 2017. They relate to students who completed their 16 to 18 studies in the summer of 2016, except where stated otherwise.

The number of students shown for each type of qualification is the number who entered at this school or college in 2016. Some students are included in more than one group - for example, a student who studied an A level will be counted in "A levels" but also in "Academic qualifications".
