Members of department:

There are four members of staff in the Department. The Department is well resourced in terms of IT, videos, instruments, books etc. We also have our own office.
Key Stage 3
In the Lower School the main texts used are Foundations, Connections and Interactions. Our own resources, plus various other sources, complement the work set in class and allow regular homework to be set. Fieldwork and practical lessons are very much encouraged. There have been trips to Iceland, France and southern England. All pupils will have access to at least 1 school geography trip.
All lessons are planned in detail in our Departmental Handbook. Adaptation and imagination is very much encouraged.
Key Stage 4
In Key Stage 4 we follow the Avery Hill Geography Course (OCR B). This emphasises human and physical interaction in the geographical world as opposed to looking at themes in isolation.
All pupils are taught in a mixed ability environment. Our aim is to provide pupils with a broad and balanced curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils within the context of the National Curriculum.
As a department, we are continually sharing good practice, taking on board new ideas and supporting each other professionally.
