Morpeth Choir Students took part in the Spitalfields Music “Big Sing” on Friday 19 May in partnership with Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service.
The performance was held at the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green and was a celebration of singing by students from seven local secondary schools.
Led by vocal leaders Jessie Maryon Davies and Suzi Zumpe, the programme included a wide variety of musical styles from compositions by Bernstein to Leadbelly to Purcell.
Students prepared for the performance by coming together at various schools in Tower Hamlets for rehearsal days in February and March as well as practising individually in-school with their own choir leaders.
Spitalfields Music is a local organisation producing live music experiences through a year-round programme of events and creative projects in schools and the community.
Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service leads the Music Education Hub for Tower Hamlets and the City of London. It works closely with all schools providing quality music and arts education opportunities for all children and young people.
