Hundreds raised for good causes

Year 12 students have raised over £200 from a bake sale they organised in support of the Somali drought relief emergency appeal.

The money will go towards helping people who are facing famine due to the drought which has been described as the most severe in 40 years.

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) thousands of children in Somalia are at risk of dying.

More money was raised on Non-Uniform Day, totalling £1000.23. This will be shared between the Somalia appeal and a local food bank.

In another initiative, pupils in 8O held a  bake sale in support of the Whitechapel Mission, raising £80.

The mission serves homeless and marginalised people, and can see as many as 300 individuals a day. They are asking for donations of food, toiletries and clothing. Click on this link to see the type of items they need: https://whitechapel.org.uk/giftlist .
