Initial Teacher Training
At Morpeth we are passionate about developing Teaching and Learning. Through our long-standing partnerships with UCL and King's, our Initial Teacher Training program is second to none. Your training placement promises an extraordinary journey, featuring expert mentoring and engaging weekly professional study sessions led by inspiring, enthusiastic and experienced members of our Morpeth community.
Teach First
We welcome Teach First applications.
“My experience of Teach First at Morpeth has been fantastic so far. As the nature of Teach First is challenging, I feel very lucky to have such an excellent support system at Morpeth and I am proud to work at such a brilliant, caring school during my teacher training.” - Abbie Baker, English department
Morpeth’s Early Career Teachers Programme
We take great pride in our comprehensive two-year ECT induction program, designed to nurture Early Career Teachers into confident and proactive educators deeply passionate about teaching, learning, and their own professional growth. We also prioritise the development of high-quality training for our mentors, recognizing their pivotal role in the progress of new teachers.
Alongside the external training from UCL, you can expect an adaptable internal training programme that fosters a sense of belonging within our school community. We encourage our ECTs to explore, stay curious, engage with educational research, and participate in educational discourse.
Ensuring the wellbeing of all our teachers, particularly ECTs, is paramount, given the program's demands. Additionally, we facilitate regular sharing opportunities, fostering valuable support networks and the exchange of best practices among ECTs and ECT mentors alike.
Developing Teachers at Morpeth
At Morpeth, we are committed to supporting our staff to achieve successful and fulfilling careers. Wherever you are in your teaching career, our professional development program fosters a culture of continuous learning and curiosity, featuring alternating weekly staff training sessions covering coaching and teaching methodologies, dedicated curriculum time every Wednesday, subject-specific pedagogy development through ‘Subject Teach Meets’, curriculum reviews, and access to resources and research on our Teaching and Learning Padlet. As a Tower Hamlets school, we work closely with Tower Hamlets Education Partnership who offer subject networks and a wide range of CPD and leadership training.
Professional Development Review
This reflective process involves three one-to-one meetings with your department head throughout the academic year to align your personal goals with school and department development plans. Subject Teach Meets allow departments to effectively implement school priorities within their subject context, promoting professional growth and skill development, with regular reflection and evaluation to provide necessary support and challenges for improvement.
Staff Benefits
In addition to the above, we offer a great range of staff benefits.
